5% of Germans would opt for an investment in cryptocurrency over other assets if they had more money at their disposal. Last year, it was just 2%. This was shown in data from a survey conducted by the banking association.
As the infographic shows, 4% of German citizens stated a preference for a cryptocurrency investment in 2019. The new year has already brought with it a new record. Nevertheless, Germans on average remain cautious, despite recent record gains by the best-known digital currency Bitcoin.
Only 2% of Germans are invested in Bitcoin. 65% consider cryptocurrencies suitable only for speculators, while 66% find the concept of digital currencies too complicated. This was the result of a recent survey by the „Bitkom“ association.
Bitcoin in Vogue
Meanwhile, Google data reveals that more and more users are interested in buying Bitcoin. The relative search volume for „buy bitcoin“ ranks at a high of 100 in a 12-month review.
New records have also been set in terms of active addresses. In 2020, there were 105% more active BTC addresses than in the previous year.
Bitcoin is by far the largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalisation. Nevertheless, the majority of cryptocurrency investors are broadly diversified. According to a „BTC-ECHO“ survey, only 8.6% of these investors exclusively hold Bitcoin. Ether, XRP & Co. are also staples in many portfolios.
